Margaret "Mugsie" Ann Stepanek, 88, of La Porte, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Golden Living Center.
Margaret was born on January 8, 1927 to Magdalene (Borg) and Wilbur O. Boardman, Sr.
On October 21, 1946, she married Ted E. Stepanek who survives. Also surviving are her beloved children, Ted (Joy) Stepanek, Jr. of Batesville, AR, Ann M. (Thom) Stocks of CA, Laura A. (Richard) Bladecki of New Carlisle, and Paul Stepanek Boardman & Margaret C. Boardman of La Porte; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary M. Toschi of Glen Rock, NJ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Boardman, Jr.; and Barbara LaMaster.
Mugsie had a lifelong love for music and was always involved in the musical arts dating back to her years of playing in the La Porte High School Band. She continued her love for music over the years by serving as the recording secretary for community concerts and singing in the choir at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mugsie was also a member of St. Joseph's Rosary Society and was well known for the salads she made at Boardman's Foods. Above all she loved her children & grandchildren dearly. She was even fond of her husband Ted at times.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with father Eduardo Malagon, officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery in La Porte, IN.
A time of visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday August 7, 2015 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church or for the La Porte community concerts.
