Marilyn R. Nelson, 85 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on November 17, 2011 in Plainfield, IL.
She was born on April 17, 1926 in LaPorte, Indiana, Daughter of the late Andrew and Josephine (Guinea)Pankowski.
She was a member of Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Bethel College, Notre Dame University and Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI. She worked as a teacher for 26 years at Rolling Prairie Elementary School.
Marilyn was married on June 19, 1948 in LaPorte to Paul E. Nelson who survives. They were married for 63 years.
Also surviving are her son: Donald (Traci) Nelson of Naperville, IL.;6 grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Melissa and Megan Kariger, Danielle and Zachary Nelson; 2 sisters: Rita (Leo) Wetzel of Lakeland, Fl., and Patricia (Jack) Day of LaPorte; son-in-law: George Kariger of Plymouth, IN.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Barbara Kariger; sister: Frances Suitor, and brother: Bernard Pankowski.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Cutler Funeral Home and from 10-11 A.M. on Monday at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow in the Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
