Marion B. Lay, 81, of LaPorte, IN, died at 10:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 27, 2004 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 30, at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Jessica S. Young-Brust officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Mrs. Lay was born March 10, 1923, in LaPorte to Harold A. & Hedwig (Schweder) Bowers. On September 11, 1948, in LaPorte, she married Jack V. Lay, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Thomas J. Lay and David (Joyce) Lay, both of LaPorte; daughter, Karen (William) Drake, Jr., Charlotte, NC; and 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Lay had worked in the office of the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant, the Studebaker Corp. in South Bend and the Chicago Board of Education. She was the vice-president of Lay Trucking Company.
She had graduated from LaPorte High School, had studied music at Kimball Hall in Chicago and had studied art in Chicago. She was a member of the LaPorte Presbyterian Church where she had sung in the choir. She was also a member of the LaPorte Service League, Tri Kappa Sorority, Delta Theta Tau Sorority and Door Prairie Questers.
