Marjorie Miller

Marge Miller, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away at the home of her son, Dr. David Miller, at 7:37 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2006.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Ash officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Marge was born December 15, 1927, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Lyle & Fay (Skinner) Calvert. On June 15, 1947, in Lafayette, she married John Robert "Bob" Miller who survives.

Also surviving are 3 sons, John Lowell (Victoria Martinsen) Miller of Seattle, WA, Dr. David Calvert (Dr. Lovera Wolf) Miller of LaPorte and Randal Robb (Susan Elizabeth Polick) Miller of Goshen, IN and granddaughters Sasha Fay Miller, Brienna Ginelle Miller, Allison Martinsen Johnson and Margaret Martinsen Johnson.

A daughter, Mitzi Jane Miller, who died in 1972, and brothers Cecil and George Calvert preceded her in death.

Marge went to Washington Elementary & Jefferson High Schools, both in Lafayette. She was a member of the LaPorte Presbyterian Church and a charter member of the Rainbow Girls (Masonic Lodge) in Lafayette. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, LaPorte, and was a member of the Hope Chapter of the eastern Star in Lafayette, receiving her 50-year pin. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Fairview Hospital, LaPorte. She was a member of the Tri Kappa Sorority since 1956, the Parent Teacher Association in LaPorte for 21 years, also serving as room mother for many years and the LaPorte Jayshees.

She was the usual neighborhood collector for funerals, weddings, etc. and she also worked on neighborhood fund drives for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. She also enjoyed making crafts for relatives and friends.
