Marlene Ann (Erickson) Shreve

Marlene Ann Shreve, 83, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Settlers Place.

Marlene was born in La Porte IN, on February 20, 1940 to Ralph and Luella (Swanberg) Erickson.

On October 25, 1958 in La Porte, she married Melvin who preceded her in death on November 18, 2011. Surviving Marlene are her 3 children, Julie (Scott) Kincaid of Indianapolis, Kevin (Julie) Shreve of Anchorage, AK, and Beth (Tom) Peterson of La Porte; 5 grandchildren, Ambur Gill, Kaylie Shreve, Schuyler Overmyer, Maya Overmyer, and Cameron Kincaid; 4 great-grandchildren, Grace, Michael, Mia, and Briella; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, Ralph Jr. and Milton Erickson; sister, Muriel Berryman; and grandson, Zachary Overmyer.

Marlene spent her working career as a dedicated medical receptionist for the offices of Drs. Calvin, Kelsey, Wheeland, and Schobert.  In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and euchre.  Later in life she enjoyed completing word puzzles, vacationing at her time-share in Branson, and reading, particularly books written by Debbie Macomber.  In all eras of her life, Marlene was a servant to her family; giving of herself whenever able to do such.  She fiercely loved her family, particularly her grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor JoEllyn Chadwick officiating.  At a later date, inurnment will take place at Salem Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
