Martha Evelyn Cole, age 80, of La Porte, passed away on August 26, 2014 at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City.
She was born in Harrison, AK, on March 24, 1934 to Kermit and Irene (Smith ) Baucom.
On October 23, 1950 she was married to Melvin Cole who has preceded her death. Surviving are her beloved children, Valerie (Alan)Peterson of Rolling Prairie, Lynn (Mark) Banaski of Valparaiso; grandchildren, Kelli (Dale) Fisher, Lisa Cole, Angel Wall, Frances Beck, Karla (Dave) Lane; great grandchildren, Brittany Fisher, Maxwell Fisher, Liam and Beth Banaski; great great grandchildren, Austin Rickard and Braydon Lane; brothers and sisters, Wanda Andrews, Ellis Baucom, David Baucom, Tony Baucom, Kermit Baucom, Jr., Leslie Baucom, and Michael Baucom.
Martha worked as a seamstress and also worked at Burger King in La Porte for 12 years. She was a member of Victory Tabernacle in Columbus and also attended First Church of God in La Porte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; daughters, Darlene and Debra; brother, Pete Baucom; and sister, Kathyren Phillips.
A Private Family Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
