Martha Ann Oman, 81, of La Porte, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at her home.
Martha was born in Newaygo, MI, on November 3, 1934 to Harold Axtell and Dora Lora (Birman) Clarke.
On March 12, 1955 in La Porte, IN, she married Lloyd Arthur Oman who preceded her in death in 2004. Surviving are her beloved children, Laura Bowers of Fremont, Valerie Greaves and Mauhrai (Robert) Walker, both of La Porte, Natalie Gilligan of Goshen, and Lloyd John (Erin) Oman of Dallas, GA; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; 3 siblings, Robert Clarke of LA, David Clarke of TX, and Janet Beattie of OH; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two grandchildren, Dalynne M. Wiles and Kyle Wiles; four sisters, Gayla Fisher, Betty Potter, Anita Duerr, and Hattie Joyce Wheeler; and one brother, Harold Clarke.
Martha was a dedicated homemaker and worked as a certified bookkeeper. She was a member of La Porte Missionary Church and a volunteer at La Porte Hospital. Martha was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the time she had to spend with all of her grandchildren.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at La Porte Missionary Church with Pastor Carl Galloway, Jr. officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 10 - 11:30 am prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will take place at Patton Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the La Porte Missionary Church Building Fund or VNA Hospice.
