Martha A. Sullivan Stevens, 88, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 11:35 a.m. Friday (Feb. 20, 2004) at Fountainview Terrace Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with the Rev. Johnny Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the service Monday at the funeral home.
She was born April 19, 1915, in Rock Springs, Ga., to James and Nora (Dill) Cooper. On May 17, 1969, in LaPorte, she married Jessie Stevens, who died May 10, 1997.
Survivors include five daughters, Doris (Bill) Hall and Linda Johnson, both of LaPorte, Melba Bettuo, Hamlet, Ind., Paula Sullivan, Columbus, Ohio, and Jo (Virgil) Metcalf, Wanatah; three sons, Ralph (Jennette) Sullivan, Cookeville, Tenn., Jack (Lene) Sullivan, Royston, Ga., and Jerry (Daryl) Sullivan, New Carlisle; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Tinnin, South Branch, Mich.; one brother, William Cooper, Holcomb, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Janet Stevens, LaPorte; three stepsons, J. Keith (Irene) Stevens and Larry (Karen) Stevens, both of LaPorte, and Roger (Ruth) Stevens, Rolling Prairie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also preceding Mrs. Stevens in death were one son, John L. Sullivan; one daughter, Pat Sullivan; four brothers; and five sisters.
Mrs. Stevens had retired from American Rubber Co.
