Martin Albert Jaeger

November 2, 1919 — August 30, 2004

Martin Albert Jaeger, 84, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 30, 2004 at the Fountainview Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private family services will be held at the Marion National Cemetery, where full military honors will be conducted.

Mr. Jaeger was born November 2, 1919, in Chicago, IL to Joseph Wilhelm and Martha (Ziebart) Jaeger.

Survivors include daughters, Cherie Mack, LaPorte, Bonnie Feikes, Fort Lauderdale, FL and Becky Magley, Stevensville, MI; sons, Martin Joseph Jaeger, Woodridge, IL and Randall Jaeger, Cincinnati, OH; step-sons, Curtis Fleming, St. Louis, MO and Ross Fleming, Chicago, IL; brother, George Jaeger, St. Joseph, MI; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Matthew Fleming.

Mr. Jaeger was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in St. Joseph, Michigan, and of the Washburn Culinary School of Chicago. He retired as a chef. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, receiving a purple heart. He was on board the USS Drexler Destroyer which was sunk by the Japenese.
