Martin "Marty" Arthur Knip, 63, of La Porte and originally from DeMotte, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Martin was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on May 16, 1957 to Cornelius and Thelma Agnes (DeFries) Knip.
On July 26, 1983 in Rensselaer, Indiana, he married Ruth Ann Baugh who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Rachel (Cade) Cooper of La Porte and Jennifer (Brandon) Hite of Marcellus, Michigan; sons, Brandon DeYoung of Fair Oaks and Taylor (Brooke) DeYoung of DeMotte; 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Caiya, Elli and Mason; siblings, Ruth (Bub) Koeppen and Kenny (Wanda) Knip; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan Knip.
Marty was a Teamster for over 30 years and spent twenty of those years working for Walsh & Kelly. He was a member of the Texas Corner Bible Church and the Teamsters Union. Marty's hobbies included mushroom hunting and Farmall antique tractors.
Marty enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards with grandkids, tending to his asparagus patch, and evenings with the love of his life, Ruth.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020 at La Porte Missionary Church, 104 E. 18th Street, La Porte, Indiana. Pastor David Thompson will be officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
Due to the recent Governor's Order, anyone attending the visitation and/or service is required to wear a mask.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
