Marvin Kalsow, of La Porte passed away at the age of 85, on Saturday November 10, 2012 at Brentwood in La Porte. He was born on July 11, 1927 the son of the late Lester & Charlotte (Fenker) Kalsow. On October 16, 1954 he married Corinne Hanes, she preceded him in death on September 18, 2010.
He is survived by his son, Joseph (Lisa) Kalsow of La Porte; grandchildren, Joel (Breanna) Young of Greenfield, IN and Jenna Kalsow of La Porte; a brother, Don (Dorothy) Kalsow of New Carlisle; and a sister, Eileen (Charles) Schoenborn of La Porte. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, a brother, Rodney Kalsow, and a sister, Nancy Mokrycki.
Marvin served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #1130 of LaPorte. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in La Porte & had worked as a letter carrier for the La Porte Post Office from 1956-1985.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday November 17, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home & Cremation Center at 10 AM with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in La Porte.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8 PM on Friday November 16, 2012 and from 9-10AM prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, 111 Kingsbury Avenue; La Porte, IN 46350.
