Marvin Stephansen, 70, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Brauer officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be on Saturday in Kingsbury Cemetery where full military services will be conducted.
Marvin was born January 26, 1936, in LaPorte, to LeRoy H. & Olive (Singleton) Stephansen. On November 22, 1975, in LaPorte, he married Ruby Wilson, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters Trina (Mike) Chambers and Julie (Alan) Childress, both of LaPorte; sons Richard and Kenny (Misty) Stephansen of LaPorte, Steve, Mario and Mike (Jennifer) Lopez, all of LaPorte and Marvin Stephansen of Dieterich, IL; 21 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and brother LeRoy Stephansen of California.
His parents, daughter April Stephansen and brother Jack Stephansen preceded him in death.
Marvin had retired from Bethlehem Steel in the 160 Plate Mill. He was a LaPorte High School graduate and was a member of Parents without Partners and R.E.A.C.T. He had also served in the US Air Force.
