Mary was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania to the late Richard D. Stanton and Millie Stanton née Tobin. She is also preceded in death by brother, Richard E. Stanton; brother-in-law, Roger Pliskey; nephew, Steven Pawlik; and niece, Katrina Pawlik.
A true Irishwoman, Mary believed in living life to its fullest. Throughout her career as a registered nurse, Mary took great pride in taking care of others and felt particularly blessed to be able to help so many people. She loved her family above all else and was a constant rock and anchor for her children and grandchildren, who relied on her ever astute advice and unfailing compassion.
Mary is survived by: two children, Tracy Blanton of La Porte and Chris (Gina) Alber of La Porte; three grandchildren, Maverick Blanton, Alexa Blanton, and Chase Alber; siblings Helen Pliskey, Patricia Pawlik, Robert (Rebecca) Stanton, Lois (Ralph) Fine, Nancy (Jim) Ray, Kathleen Stanton, and Jodi (Scott) Norman; and a whole army of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Huge, heartfelt thanks to the nurses, staff, and doctors at La Porte Hospital, Regency Hospital of Portage, and especially to the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso, as well as to the radiology and Critical Care units at La Porte Hospital. Special thanks to Doctors Kamran, Basher, and Igolnikov, whose attentiveness and expertise kept Mary with us for so many precious years.
