Mary Ann (Frye) Carr

Mary Ann Carr, 79, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at her home.

Mary Ann was born on June 10, 1943 in Chicago, IL, to Phillip A.and Helen Jean (LaMarche) Frye.

Surviving are her beloved daughter, Patricia Carr of La Porte; 6 grandchildren, Grace Elkins, Senn Zellers, Andrew Revak, Kiya Long, Elliott and Abby Carr; 1 great-grandson, Jackie Zellers; siblings, William Frye of Lake Tahoe, CA, Timothy Frye of Warsaw, and Joseph Frye of La Porte; many nieces and nephews; and dearest friend, David Kirkby.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Mary Jeanne Elkins, Elizabeth Ann Zellers, and Kathleen Long; grandsons, Jerry Zeller and Willis Elkins; 3 brothers, John, Thomas, and Phillip Frye; and sister, Kathleen Johnson.

Mary Ann worked as the headmaster secretary at La Lumiere School and then as a secretary and accountant for St. Andrews Products.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a volunteer at La Porte Hospital, and served on the Salvation Army Meals Committee.  She was an avid fan of the Cubs, Black Hawks and Michigan State teams.  Mary enjoyed reading, sewing and especially time with her kids and grandkids.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Nate Edquist officiating.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be from 4 - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  The reciting of the rosary will take place at 5:30 p.m.
