Mary Hausen

Mary Estelle Hausen, 70, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

Mary was born on August 15, 1954, in Chicago, IL, to William Hausen and Ida Carlson.

Surviving are her children, Robert Hausen of La Porte and Kimberly Hausen of Philadelphia, PA; grandchildren, Abel and Abagail Hausen of La Porte; siblings, Ruth Hausen of La Porte, John (Sue) Hausen of IL, and Bill (Tina) Hausen of Alexandria, VA; friend, Larry Hausen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary had a way about her that could be very whimsical and magical. She had a sense of humor that could range from light and breezy where you just sat there amused to dry with a touch of macabre. One of her favorite pranks was to wait for you to leave the room and call you back. After you went back, she would simply ask how far you would have gotten if she hadn't called.

She would wake you up by singing, "Good morning to you, Good morning to you, We're all in our places with bright shiny faces".

Mary had a love for her family that couldn't be matched. She always worked hard at keeping in touch and letting you know she was thinking of you. She made time for her kids, her siblings, and her parents no matter what.

Mary was very creative and artistic. She would make fun things for people just to brighten their day. One year, she made everyone Christmas ornaments to celebrate her favorite holiday. The greatest gift Mary gave was the ability to create and the ability to see the world as it could be with hope. That gift has been passed down to her grandchildren. She made the world a better place leaving the best parts of her to live on in others.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family service will take place at a later date.
