Mary A. Spevak, 89, LaPorte, died at 12:26 a.m. Wednesday (June 4, 2003) at LaPorte Hospital.
The memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. John Strebig and Deacon John O'Neill officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery. A prayer vigil will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Cutler Funeral Home.
Cremation will take place after the prayer vigil on Friday. A private family visitation was held at the funeral home.
She was born July 31, 1913, in Chicago, to Frank and Margaret (Tratnick) Lachenberg. On Aug. 1, 1931, in Crown Point, she married Peter Spevak, who died Jan. 1, 1983.
Survivors include four daughters, Jeanne Marie Arndt, Orland Park, Ill., Patricia Ann O'Neill, Austin, Texas, Donna Mae Rudofski, Milwaukee, Wis., and Carol Lynn Ockerman, Bel Air, Md.; one son, James P. Spevak, LaPorte; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Also preceding Mrs. Spevak in death were two brothers, Bill and John Lachenberg.
Mrs. Spevak was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
