Mary Sue Wellinski, 83, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022 at her home.
Mary was born on December 2, 1938 in West Van Lear, KY, to John David and Margaret Edna (Rasnick) Payne.
On January 2, 1968 in Rolling Prairie, IN, she married Richard Charles, who preceded her in death. Surviving Mary are her children, Edward Turner of La Porte, Suzanne Dowdy of La Porte, John Wellinski of La Porte, Chuck Wellinski of La Porte, James Wellinski of Mishawaka, Lisa Linn of La Porte, and David Engelbrecht of Iowa; 14 grandchildren, Maria, Nena, Rae Ann, Monica, Jacob, Liam, Clinton, AJ, John, Jaimee, Tricia, Sarah, Stevee and Jay; and 6 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Gavin, Anthony, Addilynn, Amelia, and Draven.
She was preceded by her husband; parents; daughter, Gayle Turner; and great-granddaughter, Makayla Ethridge.
Mary was a homemaker, who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed singing and attending church. For 8 years, she was the Pastor of Apostolic Faith Tabernacle, La Porte.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2022 at The Door with Pastors Christopher Tomei and Marty Ethridge officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
