Michael Zimmerman, 64, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at IU Health La Porte Hospital.
Michael was born on October 3, 1950 in Hammond, IN, to Charles and Beatrice (Shultz) Zimmerman.
On August 17, 1996 he married Mary O'Brien who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Cari Zimmerman of Griffith, Lindsay Zimmerman of Cedar Lake, Christina Bishop of AZ, Michelle (Daniel) Irvine of Portage, Anthony Rincon of Mishawaka, Jason (Angie) Hayes of South Bend; grandchildren, Logan, Luca, Adron, Tia, Drake, Alec, Taylor, Keeli, Sidney, Olivia, Ethan, Devin, and Dominick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-son, Clinton Hayes.
Michael was a US Veteran where he served as a Green Beret in three tours of duty in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing and horses and spending time with his family. He was also a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed music by the Beetles.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place at 2 PM at the M&M Ranch, 10827 W. Division Rd, Westville, IN. on June 7, 2015.
In Lieu of flowers the family would love to receive plants that can be planted in the special memorial garden that the family will be planting at their home.
