Mildred Homann

Mrs. Mildred Homann passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2014 at Fountainview nursing home at the age of 95.

She was born March 30, 1919 in La Porte to John G. and Emily (Jost) Zahrt. Mildred lived in La Porte her entire life.

On November 30, 1940, she married Kenneth W. Homann who preceded her on June 10, 2011.

Mildred belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church Circle 3 and was a 50 year member of the Walther League Chorus. She was also a charter member of the Beechwood 18 Hole Ladies Club. She won the City Tournament in 1981. "Millie" had a wonderful attitude towards life, always upbeat no matter what the circumstances, and always ready to help anyone in need.

She is survived by two sons, William Homann of Chesterton and David (Donna) Homann of La Porte; grandsons, Brett (Kimmie) Homann of Portage and Ben Homann of Mishawaka; granddaughter, Emily (Ryan Mrozinski) Homann of La Porte; nieces, Mary (Charles) Watterson of La Porte and Janis (Richard) Rosenbaum of NC; and nephew, James (Phoebe) Reed of NC.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Helen (James) Reed; and brother, John (Dorothy) Zahrt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 9 - 11 am prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in La Porte.
