Mildred Ward, 99, of LaPorte, Indiana and formerly of Union Mills, died at 9:34 p.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005 at LaPorte Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Union Mills, with Rev. John Beehler and Rev. Jessica Young Brust officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of services. Burial will be in Union Mills Cemetery.
Mildred was born July 25, 1905 in Union Mills, to George and Mabel (Irwin) O'Hara. On August 16, 1928, she married Byron Y. Ward, Sr. who preceded her in death November 10, 1983.
Surviving are daughters Nancy Male of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, Dorothy (Richard) Tuholski of LaPorte, Helen (Fred) Brust of Union Mills; son Byron (Brenda) Ward, Jr. of Union Mills; grandchildren Eugene Tuholski, Cheryl Lynch, Jill Tuholski, Gail Gemberling, Terri Spencer, Patricia Harrison, Kay Younggreen, Tracy Bradford, Jason Tuholski, Keith & Kurt Brust, Julie Hurni, Judy Ekovich, Barry Ward, Brad Ward, David Male, Robert Male, June Male Thurgood and Kirby Male; and 41 great-grandchildren.
Brothers William & Warren O'Hara and son-in-law Edwin Male, Jr. preceded her in death.
Mildred had retired in 1969 after 14 years as a 4-H county club agent with the extension service. She had also worked at the Kingsbury Ordinance Plant.
She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, where she was in a church circle. She was a local and county 4H Leader. She was a member of the Dorland Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Noble Township Farm Bureau and the Noble Township Extension Homemakers Club. She had also attended Indiana University.
