Milton A. Harde

Milton A. Harde, 91, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at his home.

Milton was born in La Porte, IN, on June 6, 1927 to Axel and Frieda (Wegener) Harde.

On October 6, 1957, he married Carol Jean (Cain) Harde who survives in La Porte.  They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2017.   Also surviving are his beloved children, Pam (Chuck) Underwood of Michigan City and Kevin Harde of La Porte; four beloved grandchildren, Ashly Harde (Aaron Bush) of Elizabethton, TN, Charlie (Lindsay) Underwood of Walkerton, Taylor (Kyle) Sass of La Porte, and Jessica Underwood of Michigan City; 6 beloved great-grandchildren, Jaxson Harde, Piper and Gunnar Bush, Josie Underwood, Cohen and Alec Sass; and one brother, Gordon (Clara) Harde of Sidney, Maine.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Milton graduated from La Porte High School in 1945 and soon after, he was drafted into the Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946.  He served in the Naval Reserve.  He was inducted into the Army in November of 1950 and was honorably discharged in September of 1952.  Milton worked as a tool and die mold maker for Allis Chalmers, Gem Tool, Die Manufacturing, Inc., and retired in December of 1993 from Aero Metals.  Milton was a member of Door Village Methodist Church.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and machining. He was always happy to make a part on his lathe for anyone that needed something fixed.  He also enjoyed fishing on the local lakes and Lake Michigan.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at 6 PM (CT) on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Bob Denny and Pastor Larry Owen officiating.

A time of visitation will be held from 4 PM (CT) until the time of the service at the funeral home on Thursday.

The family would like to thank the staff at La Porte Home Healthcare for the love and care given to Milton.
