Mr. Hilbert James Beron Sr., 81, of 9827S CR-125E, Union Mills, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at his home.
A private family graveside service will be held with Rev. David Sickelka officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Tracy Cemetery, LaPorte County. Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, is in charge of arrange-ments.
He was born on March 14, 1922, in Wyatt, IN to Elmer & Emma (Berger) Beron. On May 18, 1946, in LaPorte, in the St. John Luth-eran Church parsonage, he married Opal Williams, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, H. James Beron, Jr., Union Mills, IN; a daughter, Susan (Larry) Tobar; 9 grandchildren & 7 great-grand-children; and two sisters, Gladys Hesch, Wakarusa, IN and Evelyn Rehlander, Rolling Prairie.
Mr. Beron retired from Whirlpool May 1, 1986. He was a member of the LaPorte St. Paul United Church of Christ, the Kingsford Heights American Legion Post 434 and of Local 1172. He was a WW II Army veteran, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and being taken as a POW. He also enjoyed the outdoors and gardening.
