Mrs. Nellie B. Evans-Fowler, 98, of 3304 Monroe St., La Porte, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at Settler?s House, La Porte. She was born Jan. 31, 1906, in Maynard, Ark., to James and Allie (Shepard) Evans, and had lived in La Porte since 1986, coming from Elkhart.
Mrs. Evans Fowler was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of Christ, Elkhart, and attended Church of Christ, La Porte.
On Sept. 22, 1932, in Doniphan, Mo., she married James Fowler, who died March 22, 1985.
Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Jessie, Lessie and Christine; and five brothers, Larry, Lloyd, Loftas, Plenny and Luther Evans.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice G. Logman of LaPorte; three granddaughters, Tonya Fry, Terrina Logman and Tondrina Sanders; four great-grandchildren, Mindy, Slade, Lexxie and Drake; and one brother, Omer Evans of Pocahontas, Ark.
The funeral will be Friday at noon at Cutler Funeral Home, La Porte. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart, IN.
