Mylan L. Hoppy Hill, 72, LaPorte, died of natural causes at 4:15 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 8, 2004) at LaPorte Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cutler Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery with full military rites.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1931, in LaPorte, to Martin L. and Laura (Stayton) Hill. On July 4, 1981, in LaPorte, he married Rita D. Coleman, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Kathryn M. (Gary) Brown, Michigan City; four sons, James Digger (Patti) Coleman, Sr., and Randall M. (Linda) Coleman, both of LaPorte, and Charles L. Coleman, Sr. and Harold Paul (Amanda) Coleman, both of Michigan City; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hill retired from the LaPorte Hospital after 20 years. He belonged to the VFW Post 1130, the American Legion Post 37, the Masonic Lodge 41 F.&A.M. and the LaPorte Amateur Radio Club.
Mr. Hill was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
