Nancy Lee Gorman, age 63, of LaPorte, IN and also of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully in her home on Friday July 27, 2012. She was born the daughter of Edward Marsh Tomlinson & Pauline McKee on May 8, 1949 in Lafayette, IN. On February 22, 1986 she married Roger J. Gorman, who preceded her in death on June 18, 2010.
She graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, IN in 1967. She later obtained a degree in Nursing from PNC and worked as a ICU/CCU nurse in Lafayette, IN. In 1982 she returned to the area to become the owner of First Travel Center. She lived a very active and successful life. During her professional career she served as the president of the Michigan City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and was an Athena award recipient, served as a Rotary student mentor, and was a Dunebrook volunteer.
She is survived by her sister, Susan (Jim) Aaron; her brothers Tom and Eugene (Tissie) Dent; and a cousin, Danny Travis; their, children, and grandchildren. She had loved and provided companionship and care to her mother Polly for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service celebrating Nancy's life will be held on Tuesday July 31, 2012 at The Presbyterian Church in La Porte at 4 PM. A visitation will be held on Monday July 30, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home from 5-8 PM and from 3-4 PM prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to The Presbyterian Church or VNA Hospice of LaPorte.
