Nell Glentzer Pensinger, age 102, of La Porte, and formerly of Portland, IN passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Brentwood in La Porte.
She was born in Jay County, IN on July 10, 1912 the daughter of Wilson and Abbie (Lee) Glentzer.
On July 14, 1934 she married Truman Pensinger. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1982.
She is survived by her beloved children, M. Sue (Ross) Lawrence of La Porte, IN and Dick (Emily) Pensinger of Wilmington, NC; sisters, Mary Newhouse of Bryant, IN and Norma Haffner of Yorktown, IN; Grandchildren, David Lawrence of Niles, MI, Amy Lawrence Mader of Granger, IN, and Richard Pensinger of Nashville, TN; and Great-Grandchildren, Kate, Jack, Brandon, Ross, and Amanda.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Truman Pensinger; parents; two sisters, Bonnie Gillespie and Doris Calhoun; three brothers, Lee Glentzer, George Glentzer, and Joe Glentzer.
Nell graduated from Poling High School in 1930. She farmed for several decades with her husband and also retired as a food service manager from Pennville School . In her retirement she volunteered at Jay County Hospital. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church in La Porte.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at a later date in Pennville Cemetery, in Jay County, IN.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 3PM on Sunday January 25, 2015 at The Presbyterian Church, 307 Kingsbury Avenue, La Porte, IN 46350. Pastor Sally Wicks will officiate. A time of visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of the service at the church.
An additional remembrance service will be held for family and friends at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home in Portland, IN on Saturday January 24, 2015 at 2PM. A time of visitation will be held from 1PM until the time of the that service. Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence and Rev. David Lawrence will officiate.
