Norman Gene Kistler, 79 years old of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at LaPorte Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1930 in Bass Lake, Indiana.

He was married on July 29, 1950 in Hammond, IN to Evelyn Malatinka who preceded him in death on November 11, 2009.

Surviving are his daughters, Diane (Ed) Wainscott of LaPorte, IN., Darlene (Brett) Quigley of Paw Paw, MI., grandchildren, Jennifer Wolszczak, Elaine (Daniel) Stecklein, Andrew (Erin) Wainscott, Jeffrey Erickson, great grandchildren, Katelyn & Ryan Wolszczak, Claire & Samuel Stecklein, Dylan, Addison and Ashlynn Wainscott. Step Sister, LaDonna (Gene) Liggett of LaPorte and Step Brother, Gordon (Barbara) Marcinkoske of Bradenton, FL.

He was preceded in death by his Mother and Step Father, Bernice and Lawrence Marcinkoske.

Norman served in the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office for 17 years. He was a La Porte firefighter for 21 years where he served as Captain & Assistant Chief, while working for C & H Sales for 20 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 1542, International Association of Fire Fighters Local 363, and the LaPorte P.R.C.U.

Norman enjoyed bowling while participating in 2 bowling leagues, golfing, making golf clubs, political conversations, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.

There will be a time of visitation with the family on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 5-7:00 PM at the Cutler Funeral Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte, IN with Rev. David Kime officiating.

Burial of cremains will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the LaPorte Salvation Army Food Pantry, 3240 Monroe St., LaPorte, IN 46350 or St. Joseph Church, 109 C Street, LaPorte, IN 46350.
