Norman Lee Tennis, age 84, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at his home.
Norman was born in Pinhook, IN, on December 16, 1930 to Mike and Essie Mae (Shreve) Tennis.
On July 3, 1954, he married Janice Ann Halter who preceded him in death. Surviving are his beloved children, sons, Brian L. (Donna) Tennis of Blue Island, IL, Brad A. (Bobi) Tennis of La Porte, IN; daughter, Vickie Tennis of Crown Point, IN; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Jonathon, Joshua, Anna, Adam; five great grandchildren, Tim, Kaia, Zach, Emily, Jackson; a sister, Betty Pugh of La Porte; one niece, great niece and a great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister, Alice.
Norman worked as an engineer for Whirlpool Corporation for 33 years. He honorably served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran. Norman was a volunteer firefighter in Westville, a 32 degree Master Mason, a member of The Scottish Rite, and an avid golfer. He enjoyed wood carving and belonged to the Duneland Woodcarvers Club.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 am, on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte, IN with Pastor Jeff Zigler officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Sunday, January 11 and from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will take place at Patton Cemetery with full military honors.
