Nylla Schultz

Nylla Eloa Schultz, 95, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on November 5, 2016.

Nylla was born in La Crosse, Indiana to Mildred and Cody Zahn. Nylla was an only child but had many cousins she enjoyed spending time with. In high school, Nylla played women’s basketball and was a cheerleader. She worked several years as a telephone operator for General Telephone Electronics in La Crosse, Indiana where she met her husband, George C. Schultz. They were married in January of 1941 in Walkerton, Indiana.

Nylla and George had three sons, Terry, Thomas, and James. She worked at Whirlpool in La Porte as an administrative assistant until her retirement in the early 80's. Nylla and George enjoyed many winters in Florida together where they were “snowbirds". She was a lifelong, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and Chicago Bulls fan. She enjoyed reading, playing dominoes, and watching her great-grandchildren be silly. Nylla was a member of Eastern Star Freemason organization in La Porte and a member of First United Methodist Church of La Porte.

Nylla was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her son, Terry. She is survived by her loving sons, Thomas (Mary Ellen) of St. Charles, Illinois and James of La Porte; daughter-in-law, Vida Ann of Orlando; granddaughters, Heather (Arthur) Hernandez of Orlando and Kristin (Michael) Soukup of South Barrington, Illinois. Nylla is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Lauren Mayhercy, and Karina and Parker Soukup.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Nylla’s honor at 1 PM on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center in La Porte, Indiana. Pastor Bob Vale will officiate. Burial will follow at Patton Cemetery in La Porte, Indiana.

A visitation with the family will be held from 4-6 PM on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at the funeral home and also from 12 noon until the time of service on Thursday.
