Oren Meyers

Oren Wade Meyers, 88, of La Porte, IN, passed away on September 1, 2024, at his home, with family by his side.

Oren was born on September 8, 1935, in Buchanan, MI, to George William Meyers, Sr. and Esther Margaret (Marsh) Meyers.

On June 5, 1955, in Rolling Prairie, IN, he married Arlene Kirkham Meyers who preceded him in death. Surviving Oren are his 4 children, Barb Hart of New Carlisle, Leon (Lynne) Meyers of North Liberty, Linda (Chad) Lindsey of La Porte, and Jim (Mary) Meyers of Union Mills; 9 grandchildren, Robert (Nicci) Hart of South Bend, Candice (Zeek) Dickinson of La Porte, Josh (Jamie) Meyers of La Porte, Eric (Jill) Pointon of La Porte, Tyler Meyers of North Liberty, T.J. Meyers of Winamac, Ali Meyers of South Bend, Bekah (Chris) Tucker of LaCrosse, and Kyle (Mariah) Lindsey of La Porte; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 great, great-grandchildren; 5 siblings, Ward (Arlene) Meyers of Brazil, IN, Shirley (Roger) Hamilton of Walkerton, Wade (Carrie) Meyers of La Porte, Deloris (Jeff) Rhodes of Elkhart, and Herman (Janine) Meyers of La Porte; sisters-in-law, Joan Meyers of AZ and Renee Meyers of New Carlisle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; 4 brothers, Robert, Kenneth, George Jr., and Sidney Meyers; son-in-law, Guy Hart; and grandson, Chris Hart.

Oren was a retired farmer and mechanic, who spent his working career at Gust's Elevator in Westville, Eastside Supply, and the IN Toll Road. He was a member of Farm Bureau, Inc. and Rolling Prairie First Christian Church. Oren enjoyed farming and 4-H county fairs, particularly when his family showed livestock at the La Porte Co. 4-H Fair. Most of all, Oren enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Rev. Dr. Daniel Lute officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. on Sunday September 8, 2024, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
