Orlo M. Strahm, 99, of Hanna, Indiana, died at 5:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Arbors of Michigan City.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the Hanna United Methodist Church with Rev. Kent Dale officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Cutler Funeral Home and Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Orlo was born April 13, 1905 in Ada, Ohio to Charles and Ida (Hilty) Strahm. On September 2, 1924, in Lima, Ohio, he married Florence Miller, who preceded him in death in 1975.
Surviving is daughter Patricia M. (Joseph) Bessegato, Michigan City, IN; son Richard (Jeannine) Strahm, Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Carol Teshima, Steve Thate, David Strahm, Joni Williams, Tony, Sylvia, Patrick & James Bessegato; 12 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; brother Robert Strahm, Seattle, WA; and sister-in- law Myrtle Strahm, Orlando, FL.
Preceding him in death were 3 brothers and a sister.
Orlo was an electrical maintainer for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 48 years, retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Hanna United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #222 of Kingsbury, the Scottish Rite of South Bend, the Eastern Star and the Pennsylvania Railroad Retirees Breakfast Group. He was a Meals on Wheels volunteer and a former volunteer fireman from Hanna.
