Paul E. Nelson, 90 years old, of La Porte, IN, died on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Naperville, IL.
He was born in La Porte on September 18, 1923, to Samuel and Mabel (Swanson) Nelson.
Paul was married on June 19, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church to Marilyn Pankowski who preceded him in death.
He was a member of United Methodist Church of Rolling Prairie. Paul was a 1941 graduate of Rolling Prairie High School. He was a WWII Army Veteran having served in North Africa and Sicily. Paul was a retired machinist for Allis Chalmers.
Surviving are his son, Donald (Traci) Nelson of Naperville, IL; six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Melissa, and Megan Kariger, Zachary and Danielle Nelson; and son-in-law, George Kariger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Barbara Nelson Kariger; and two brothers, Willard and Raymond Nelson.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Rolling Prairie United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie K. Beason officiating. Burial will follow the service with Full Military Honors at the Rolling Prairie Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 3 - 6 pm on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and Wednesday from 9:30 - 10:30 am prior to the service at the church.
