Peggy Jean (Fryar) Sherwood, of La Porte, went to be with her Lord at 9:50 a.m. on the 5th day of September, 2012 at home surrounded by her family, after a 10 year battle with cancer.
She was born in Valparaiso, December 30th, 1946, to Robert and Edna (Denby) Fryar. Peggy graduated from Indiana University and was an elementary teacher before she accepted the demanding role of wife and mother; Peggy was faithful and loving to her husband Bruce for 49 years and was married on July 20th 1968.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Megan Marie. Surviving are her husband, two sons and a daughter; Deke Sherwood, Drew Sherwood and Casey (Mike) Ryan; Five grandchildren, Alysia and Samuel Sherwood, Chloe, Bailey and Lincoln Ryan; brother Bill (Jill) Fryar & her best friend & loving sister Jan (Dean) Jessup.
She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and exemplified it as one of the most patient, considerate, loving, never complaining ladies, always listening and offering support to all. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
A time of visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Friday the 7th day of September at the La Porte Assembly of God, 244 East Boyd Blvd. A Celebration of Life Service will take place immediately following. Interment will be in the Hanna cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, LaPorte, IN.
