Philip Bruce Thornburg

Philip Bruce Thornburg, 66, of Rolling Prairie, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at home.

Philip was born in La Porte, IN, on December 29, 1952 to Myron "Whitey" Albert and Anna  Katherine "Kate" (Wetter) Thornburg.

On October 8, 1994 in La Porte, IN, he married Jan (Scott) who survives.  Also surviving are his father, Myron "Whitey" (Jo) Thornburg; beloved daughters, Lisa (Kevin) Menke and Angela (Mike) Reaves, both of La Porte; 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Samantha, and Garrett Menke and Taylor Reaves; siblings, David (Debra) Thornburg and Laurie (Doug) Kiger, both of La Porte; step-siblings, Cristofer (Jack) Rudyk, Deborah Yarnes, and Stephen (Pam) Morgan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Philip retired from Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local #172, South Bend.

Philip graduated from La Porte High School, where he played Slicer football.  He was a Boy Scout, Eagle Scout, and an honorary member of the Order of the Arrow.  Philip was an avid IU Basketball fan and enjoyed the Chicago Bears and White Sox.

Philip loved helping others, especially his family.  He enjoyed the time he had to travel and being outdoors.  Philip enjoyed Rock and Roll music.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Evan Lash officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

A time of visitation will be held from 3 - 6 pm, with full military honors beginning at 3:30 pm, on Tuesday at the funeral home.
