Phyllis Jean Brown 75, years old of La Porte, IN, died on Friday, April 10, 2009 in South Bend, IN.
She was born January 10, 1934 in Harvey, Illinois , Daughter of the late Morton and Merrill Campbell (Young).
Phyllis was retired from the LaPorte County Police Dept. where she was a jail administrator.
She was a member of Countryside Christian Church. She was a member of the Hairdressers Association and an associate member of the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are son; Rick Brown of LaPorte, 3 grandchildren; Cassie Galindo, Jerri Stacy, Caleb Brown, 6 great grandchildren, sister; Betty Byers of Valparaiso and brother; Lee Campbell of Wanatah, IN.
Phyllis was a muli-talented person with many interests. She was an accomplished seamstress, a quilter, and a knitter. She painted Ceramics. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed going to movies. She learned about flowers and created a beautiful flower garden. She enjoyed planning trips and traveling. Her first love was the Lord Jesus Christ. Her faith sustained and strengthened her throughout her 8 1/2 year battle with Ovarian cancer. She was a blessing and an inspiration to many people. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Galloway officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday. Interment will follow in the Washington Memory Gardens, Chicago, Illinois at a later time.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice House, American Cancer Society, Countryside Christian Church, or the donor's choice.
