Phyllis Mae Kurth, 79, of Michigan City, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Franciscan Health.
Phyllis was born in Ridgeway, PA, on December 31, 1936 to Clair H. and Florence (Clinton) Byerly.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Sanford "Sandy" Kurth of Michigan City; her beloved children, Deborah Green of Michigan City, Suzanne Allen of Kingsbury, Sanford (Roberta) Kurth, III of Glencoe, OK, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Kurth of Westville; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Doris Joyner of Sumter, SC; 2 nieces, Mary Ellen Peterson and Cheryl Ward; nephew, Robert Ackley and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Beverly Byerly.
Phyllis loved going to Disney, collecting, shopping, browsing garage sales, cooking, and going to country music shows. She and her husband enjoyed spending the winters in sunny Orlando, FL.
A cremation committal has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. Burial will take place out of state.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Rev. Aaron Kretzschmar officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 5 PM until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
