Phyllis Schneider

Phyllis J. Schneider, 86, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Miller's Health and Rehab in La Porte.

Phyllis was born in Knox, Indiana on June 16, 1937 to Clarence and Mary (Jernas) Weidner.

In 1956, Phyllis married Gale Loren Schneider who preceded her in death. Surviving are her daughter, Maureen (Barry) Apter of Benicia, California; 3 grandchildren, Lauren Apter, Melissa Apter (Sergio) Castro and Natalie Apter; 2 great-grandchildren, Landon Castro and Quinn Castro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, Curtis Walter, Michelle Walter, Mike Wilson, Keven Wilson, Scott Wilson, and Carla Wilson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Kathleen Wilson and Carol Walter.

Phyllis graduated from Union Township High School in 1956. After marrying Gale, she was a homemaker to her family. Phyllis was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post #9423.

Phyllis enjoyed traveling with her husband Gale, visiting her grandchildren in California, reading mindless but spellbinding mysteries, and visiting with friends. She managed to live independently after her husband's death with the support of special people in her life, Gail and Guy Morrison, Treena Price, Barb Smith, and Ashley Schmidt.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A private inurnment will take place at Patton Cemetery.
