Po Hu Shao, 85, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away at 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at LaPorte Hospital.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, December 21, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home. Internment will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago.
Po Hu was born December 26, 1920, in Shanghai, China to the late Gang-Fu Hu & ZhaoFu Hua. On January 30, 1947, she married Pat Shao who preceded her in death June 22, 2003.
Survivors include son Jianye Shao of LaPorte; nieces Dawn Zhou Cheng of Davis, CA, Ping Hu Wang of Bethesda, MD and Zao Hu Ma of Berkeley Heights, NJ; and nephews Jesse Zhou and Ming Shou Wu, both of Chicago, and Hsin Cheng Yang of Potomac, MD; and grand and great nieces and nephews in China.
Po Hu had worked as an architect for Loebl, Schlossman & Hackl in Chicago. She had managed and designed Water Tower Place, the Prudential Building and many shopping malls and hospitals in the great Chicago area. She was also a member of A.I.A.
