Ralph H. Jones, 83 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2011 at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born June 9, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois, Son of the late Ralph T. and Helen (Dargis) Jones and was raised by Leroy Cook who also preceded him in death.
He was married on August 9, 1952 in River Park Gospel Center to Betty J. Luke who survives.
Also surviving are his children:Ralph Gregory (Debbie) Jones of Rolling Prairie, IN., Bryan (Janice) Jones of Carol Stream, IL., Kenneth (Amy) Jones of Kirklin, IN., Glenn (Shelly) Jones of LaPorte, Kathy Hill of LaPorte and Karen (Chris) Heaps of Winter Park, FL; thirteen grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one sister: Gloria Hancock of Louisville, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents a daughter Denise McKay and a nephew: Neal Young, 1/2 brother; Gilbert Jones
Ralph graduated with a BA from Valparaiso University. He retired after 31 years as a Inventory Analyst at Whirlpool Corp in LaPorte. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was also a WWII Army Veteran. Ralph was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 83, the Color Guard,and Past Commander plus a lifetime member of the DAV. He was also a long time member of the Moose Lodge, 492. Ralph enjoyed playing pool for many years on the American Legion League. He shared fond memories with friends and family on his visits to all the states, Ralph was also very well known as "Tiger" Jones.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday Dec. 27, 2011 at the Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. There will visitation from 3-7:00 PM Monday and Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM.
Burial will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery with full military honors by the La Porte Honor Guard.
