Mr. Raymond Jack Ambers, 95, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on September 25, 1928, to the late Joseph and Anna (Kwasigroch) Ambers, in Chicago Heights, IL.
On March 21, 1953, he married his loving wife, Charlotte Goodson, from La Porte, IN. Every spring, they celebrated their anniversary. They enjoyed 71 years of marriage.
During their 71 years together, Raymond and Charlotte enjoyed traveling on many cruises, including Alaska and Hawaii. They also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.
Raymond was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was very honored to serve his Country, "The United States of America". Because of his patriotism, Raymond was honored to participate with the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.
He retired from Bendix Allied Signal where he was employed for 33 years. Raymond was very committed to providing for his family.
Raymond was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years. He belonged to the VFW, American Legion, Polish Falcons, Senior Bowling, and the Knights of Columbus Golf League.
He leaves behind his wife of 71 years; children, Nina (Doug) Reber of Muncie, Linda (John Doesburg) Kendall of La Porte, David (Carmen) Ambers of La Porte, and Christine (Joe) Ruszkiewicz of TX; grandchildren, Eric Reber, Faye Reber, Amanda Dunn, Scott Kendall, Michael Kendall, Christopher Ambers, and Sarah Ambers; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, George and Ed Ambers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Ian Williams officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20 at the funeral home.
