Raymond Herman Fischer, 95, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at home with his loving family around him.
Raymond was born in La Porte, IN, on December 20, 1920 to Herman William and Martha M. (Hillman) Fischer.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Verna Mae Mickelson, whom he married on February 6, 1949. Also surviving are his beloved children, Rayetta (Tom) Lerch of Hanna, Loretta (George) Mueller of La Porte, Connie (Arden) Arndt of LaCrosse, Dale (Annie) Fischer of La Porte, Paul (Margaret) Fischer of La Porte; 15 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
Raymond worked as a Dairy Farmer. He was a member the Lions Club, A.M.P.I., and St. Johns Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, farming, the 4th of July Parade, and traveling.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 2, 2016 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 111 Kingsbury, La Porte.
A time of visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of the service at the church on Monday. Interment will take place following the service at Oak Grove Cemetery.
