Ray Huber, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2006 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Ash officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Ray was born September 16, 1933, in LaPorte to Raymond & Ida (Kiess) Huber, Sr. On August 6, 1955, in LaPorte, he married Mary Ann Diederich, who survives.

Survivors also include sons Terry (Sandy) Huber, Gregory (Lisa) Huber, Thomas Huber and Cory (Amy) Huber, all of LaPorte; grandsons Zachary (Colleen), Bailey, Connor and Carter Huber; granddaughters Sara (Jim) Welsh, Summer Huber and Meredith (Fiancée Matt Eaton) Huber; great-granddaughter Maggie Welsh; sister Barbara Trass of Shreveport, LA; and brother Richard Huber of New Haven, IN.

His parents, brother William Huber and sister Mary Huber preceded him in death.

Ray was a Contract Administrator for the US Government Department of Defense for 38 years. He also started and owned Huber's Marina in LaPorte for over 20 years.

He was a member of Countryside Christian Church. He was the first inductee into the Indiana Water Ski Hall of Fame in 1997. He was a National Waterskiing Championship Medalist and was twice the chief driver for the National Waterskiing Championships. He started and administered the CorrectCraft Ski Nautique Promotional Program in 1968. He was founder for both the LaPorte YMCA Swim Team currently known as the "Turbos" and the LaPorte Ice Hockey team the "Icers". He also served as president of the Michiana High School Hockey League for 4 years.
