Regina A. Demziem

September 11, 1911 — February 10, 2005

Regina A. Demzien, 93, of LaPorte, Indiana, died at 1:52 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at Fountainview Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Cutler Funeral Home and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.

Regina was born September 11, 1911, in LaPorte to William and Amanda (Gruenke) Abele. On June 1, 1946, in LaPorte, she married Karl Demzien, who preceded her in death December 15, 1996.

Survivors include her sister, LaDonna M. Higgins of Michigan City, IN; very special nieces Sandra (Norman) Bartlett of Jappa, MD and Donna (William) Goodwin of Carmel, IN (she was their second "mom"); special great-nieces Lauri (Dr. David) Roe of Charlotte, NC, Lisa (Roger) McCoy of Chicago and Donna Val (Michael) Cliffe of Jappa MD; and 9 great-grandnieces and nephews.

Regina had worked at Adelheid's Hat Shop where she designed and made many hats for customers. She also worked for a short time at the LaPorte Civic Auditorium office when her husband was the manager.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and had sung for many years in the Walther League Chorus. She and her husband were very active in the LaPorte Little Theater Club. She was also an active member of LaPorte Questers, the LaPorte County Historical Society and the Community Concert Association. She loved to sew and do craft work.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
