Rex Lowe Daugherty, 79, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Franciscan Health in Michigan City.
Rex was born on April 29, 1942 in Hazleton, Indiana, to Rex Lowe and Mildred (Westfall) Daugherty, Sr.
On January 15, 2000 in La Porte, IN, he married Norma Jean Sitar who preceded him in death on March 4, 2020. Surviving are his 4 children, Denise (Kevin) Daugherty of Ft. Wayne, Dennis (Traci) Daugherty of La Fontaine, Lorena Harding of Indianapolis, and Samuel Daugherty of Wabash; stepdaughters, Sarah (Jon) Rinkel of La Porte and Maggie Sitar of La Porte; grandchildren, Braden Bryant, Jennifer and Brianne Daugherty, Tyler, Nicolas, and Parker Harding, William and Maddie Swan, Matthew and Caleb Daugherty, Kadin Sitar, and Grace and Jonathan Rinkel, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Pyper Brinson; and sister, Billie Ferguson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Rex was an Air Force veteran. He worked at E.Z. Loader Mid-West Trucking as a truck driver for 40+ years. Rex enjoyed reading, dancing, watching TV, and being in the workshop where he liked fabricating and working on small engines.
Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte. A private family burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery.
