Richard DeCamp, 65, of La Porte, passed away at 8:23 pm on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Miller’s Health and Rehabilitation in LaPorte.

He was born in Kingsford Heights, Indiana on May 11, 1949 to Albert and Mary Jane (Estok) DeCamp.

On March 21, 1970 he married Barbara Dawson who survives. Rick and Barb, as they were known by residents of Kingsford Heights, were owners and operators of D & D Grocery for over 30 years. Rick was also active in the Hoosier Boys Club as a coach for many years. He also enjoyed playing golf and cards with his friends.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer (Patrick) Drewry of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Samuel and Violet of Indianapolis and Justin and Dane of LaPorte; one brother, Terry Hargrove of Flint, Michigan; three sisters, Nancy Wisler of LaPorte, Darla Pence of Valparaiso and Joanne Paris of Monroeville. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey DeCamp.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Kingsbury Cemetery. Burial will follow the service. Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte has been entrusted with the service.
