Richard H. Henning, 76, of La Porte, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in La Porte Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1933 in La Porte, son of the late Harold and Mable (Kipphut) Henning.
He was married Dec. 13, 1958 in La Porte to Geraldine E. White who survives, also surviving are daughter, Wendy I. (Shane) Sanders of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; a son, Scott A. Henning of La Porte; two grandsons, Seth R. and Cole A. Sanders of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and a granddaughter from Wendy and Shane who will be born in May; two sisters;, Barbara Brown and Beverly Crawford both of La Porte.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jeffery A. Henning in September 1964.
Richard retired from La Porte School Corporation in 2002 and was a realtor with Liston Brown Realty for 30 years. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where he served on the church council and the men’s club, He was La Porte High School graduate in 1952; served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956; past member of La Porte Jaycees and received the Key Man Award in 1968; was an American Red Cross donor and a member of the American Legion Post 83.
Friends will be received at Cutler Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010 and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 with Rev. Helen Nusbaum officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Lake Cemetery with full military honors by La Porte Honor Guard.
