Richard John Howell

Richard John Howell, 89, of Union Mills, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Golden Living Center La Porte.

Richard was born on July 9, 1929 in Tracy, IN to Leo and Kathryn (Grage) Howell.

On March 7, 1959 in Union Mills, IN, he married Janet Louise Heironimus who survives.  Also surviving are his beloved children, Kevin Howell of Apple Valley, MN and Brian (Arlene) Howell of New Berlin, WI; 4 grandchildren, Kelsey and Dylan Howell of Apple Valley, MN and Sarah and Emily Howell of New Berlin, WI; siblings, David Howell of Union Mills, Chuck Howell of Indianapolis, and Marilyn Novak of Valparaiso; brother-in-law, Wesley (Lucy) Heironimus; sister-in-law, Jeannie Heironimus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents and son, Craig Alan Howell.

Richard was a Service Manager at Allis-Chalmers, where he retired in 1991.  His favorite past times included playing cards, especially with his grandchildren and friends, as well as community and civic activities.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 110 Hamilton St, Union Mills, with Pastor Kathleen McKenzie officiating.  Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 am until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
