Richard J. "Dick" Kuta, age 76, of La Porte, passed away on October 25, 2013 at his home after a 18 month battle with cancer.
He was born in La Porte, IN on July 5, 1937 to Lawrence A. and Genevieve (Pawlik) Kuta.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carol (Baker) Kuta. They were married on November 25, 1972. Also surviving are his beloved children, Wendy (Kiegan) Long of La Porte, Christina Kuta of La Porte, Todd (Lauren) Kuta of Fountain Hills, AZ; four grandchildren, Garrett, Grace, Tyler, and Claira; brother, Bob (Carroll) Kuta of Marysville, OH; three sisters, Gloria Jean (Jim) Rogers of Ringgold, GA, Cindy (Thomas) Stockton of South Bend, IN, Lori (David) Culp of Herndon, VA; and Brandy, Dick's Jack Russell Terrier that he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dick retired from United Beverage in South Bend in 1997. He worked after retirement part time at Briar Leaf Golf Course mowing the course which he really enjoyed. Dick was a US Army Veteran and served in Germany from 1960-1962. He was a member of the American Legion and the honor guard, VFW, PRCU, PNA, Polish Falcons, and the Briar Leaf Golf Course. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, mushroom hunting, and he was an avid golfer. Dick was famous around town for his elaborate Christmas display for over 30 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Father Ian Williams officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM and on Tuesday from 12 PM until the time of the service at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home following the service.
