Richard P. McEnterfer, Sr., 68, of La Porte, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend.
Richard was born in La Porte, IN on February 16, 1948 to Richard Elmer and Emma Jean (Thomas) McEnterfer.
On November 1, 1980 in La Porte, he married Sandra Hutton Kousen who survives. Also surviving are his beloved children, Richard Paul McEnterfer, Jr. of St. Augustine, FL, Julie Kousen of Jersey City, NJ; sisters, Joyce A. Bernacchi of La Porte; Jean A. (Larry) Bannwart; brother, Roger A. (Sherry) McEnterfer of Westville, IN; special friend, Jake, his dog; several nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Emma Jean.
Richard retired after a 29 year career operating heavy equipment with Local 150 Operating Engineers. Richard spent many years working in the family automotive supply business, Eastside Supply and Service and was owner from 1993-1997. He was past President and member of the Stillwell Rod and Gun Club, member of the La Porte County Tractor Pulling Club, and Ducks Unlimited. Although he enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing and hunting, his real passion was Trap-Shooting, especially in his retirement. He was always there to help family and friends with anything at any time.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center with Pastor Scotty Robertson officiating.
A time of visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, March 11, 2016 and from 10 AM until the time of service at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Saturday.
