Richard E. Pinkerton, Sr. 66 years old of LaPorte, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Franciscan Saint Anthony Health, Michigan City, IN.
He was born August 15, 1945 in LaPorte, IN, son of the late Robert and Norma Lee (Griffith) Pinkerton.
He was married on August 19, 1965 to his wife of 47 years, Chris (Bays) Pinkerton. He is also survived by his son, Rich E. (Kim) Pinkerton, Jr. of LaPorte; daughters, Karie (Ed) Kelley of Eldred, PA, Dorie (Brian) Barnes of Michigan City; 6 grandchildren, Emily & Hayley Doll, Ashley Shanahan, David McDaniel, Esther & Josiah Barnes; great grandson, Khale Shanahan; brothers, Larry (Barbara) Pinkerton of LaPorte, Terry Pinkerton of Hollywood, FL; sister-in-law, Jan Pinkerton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Pinkerton, Jr.
Richard was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran, he was a member of the Vietnam Veterans, Inc. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. Richard worked for Quality Control at Whirlpool for 25 years and then at AM General in Mishawaka, IN.
A time of visitation will be from 3-7 PM., Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, LaPorte, IN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Friday, May 25, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
